Kempa team Sweden claims silver medal at EHF EURO 2018

After 16 years the Swedish achieved to enter the final at the European Handball Championship again and won the silver medal in Croatia.

In the semi-final against the reigning Olympic champions the Swedish showed an impressive performance to take the 35-34 win after overtime. During the past two weeks the young Swedish team around the Kempa athletes Hampus Wanne (Wing Lite Caution/SG Flensburg.Handewitt) and Max Darj (Attack One/Bergischer HC) celebrated high speed handball and scored stunning goals. To reach the final in a tournament densely packed with high quality teams tells its own tale.

Stefan Lövgren (President of the SHF):

Each medal has its own significance. But this success achieved in spite of this much injuries we had to deal with, is something truly special. In combination to the efforts of our Women’s Team in Germany in December it gives us strength, courage and power for the future.

Besides the silver medalists the national teams from Germany, Slovenia and Iceland represented the new Kempa CORE 2.0 teamline on and off the court. Due to the intensely news coverage during the tournament this is where it came to its own.
